    Re: Virgin Media broadband

Yes i agree the support can be a nightmare, BUT its how often you need their service, I have called on them only two occassions as the set top box needed to be replaced, this was done to the exact date planned and engineer completed the swap. You have to put in prospective how much you think you may need the support services and it doesnt seem to matter what company you ring these days, bt, barclays, abbey, credit card, they all have automated garbage followed by agents who dnt seem trained enough to deal with issues. I am staying for the 2nd year with virgin due to the deals. But everyone must look around for the best deal possible for their own needs. My brother uses BE UNLIMITED, this has huge speeds and no capped download. That is broadband use only.  AOL and Talk talk we have used in past and would personally NOT recommend.

    Re: Virgin Media broadband

Just had one of my engineers back from a Virgin Media client who has just binned the service completely. Tech Support is useless, Virgin Media Customer Services is an oxymoron, billing have no idea, the TV package is possibly the worst deal in the UK and the broadband service speeds are unacceptable outside their cabled (ex-NTL) areas.

To shehzadilas I ask one question - did they tell you WHICH Thursday? How can you say that they're "... not half as bad as some posts ..." when you don't have the service yet?

    SHARK!

I agree with jon the service with Virgin is terrible and customer service and tech support is non existent when you eventually get through their horrendous automated service and i thought barclaycard automated service was bad stay clear!

    Re: Virgin Media broadband

I started off with NTL, no problems at all, now Virgin has taken over, I still have no problems what so ever. The Broadband is EXCELLENT! never had a problem with downtime, nor the speed.

    Re: Virgin Media broadband

also was an ntl customer before merger....got full package, but only use phone for incoming! kids used to run up horrendous bills.....but the broadband has always been fine, but a bit fiddly to set up with other computers added...not exactly plug & play!  must say my bill has been cheaper since take over, not really analysed the reasons but the speed/reliability is fine. ntl was always a pain to contact by phone coz used to use mobile, but as they had a depot at end of my road, if i had any problems i went in and used the house phone. i see Virgin have introduced charges via premium lines for customer service, which is a no no for me with just mobile, have to see as it goes, but not likely to switch to sky package as they use BT lines, and the dreaded 'interactive discount contract'.

    Re: Virgin Media broadband

My brother has left AOL after 6 years, they cap speed and going down hill. He has since tried VIVACITI, but found there the speed fluctuated and you were capped at certain times ( downloading amounts applied). After trawling the internet and asking forums, he has just signed up to BE THERE,  no down load capping, and speed upto 12/ 13 all day. He has never had anything like it. SO far so good.I think it is £20.00 per month  but that is just the broadband, they supply a modem and box, this enabled you to get the extra speed. They do have website. My brother had no trouble with the set up and communication was good.Hope this helps you. Does depend on what you require, unsure if they do phone deals with broadband, you would have to check website. I am actually using virgin media after being a NTL customer. Will stay with them not the best deal around, But i dont have any bother with them SO FAR.

    Re: Virgin Media broadband

I have been using Virgin Media for my mobile, phone line and broadband (previously NTL) for the last three years and iv never had any problems with any of their services whatsoever. I have also been offered to upgrade to all of the above plus Virgin TV for one pound extra. So the monthly cost for me (minus the mobile) is currently £11 phone line rental and £18 broadband, and if i take the tv offer that would all cost £30 per month. Not bad methinks, hope this helps.
