Re: Victim of Insurance Rip-Off ?

Welcome to the 'Great ' British car insurance industry.

The industry is in great need of proper legislation and constructive regulation.
Basically they have had it too good for too long and slowly but surely
we are learning of their devious tactics and extremely poor service.

Unfortunately 1.5 million people don't even insure their cars anymore.
I believe that a large portion of those are people who have experienced
the poor standards of the insurance 'industry' and basically have chosen
to stay out of the system. They might be doing a criminal act but surely we
    haven't got 1.5 millions criminals !!!!!

Referring back to the tactics..... senior people are now actually being targeted.
Fortis was a Belguim bank, the banking side went bump !!! but surprise surprise
the insurance side was profit making.
They rebranded the name and became AGEAS. Insurance.

Ageas then bought RIAS, an insurance company which purposefully supplied
insurance services to mature people. Then low and behold AGEAS is now the
chosen insurance company for all the clients of AGE UK . !!!!!!

Age uk highlight the awards that ageas have won, bet you've never heard of
    the insurance industry prize 'givers'.

But in any case a simple proof is to visit the Financial Ombudsman Service
insurance complaints data web page. Look for AGEAS and see how many
complaints have been made and even upheld against them.

Now this company is actually making a determined effort to get into the senior
market ( as outlined above ).

It was obviously too much trouble for age uk to do that !!!! so they are purposefully sending
their 'senior members' to the slaughter. AND THEY'RE A CHARITY !!!!!!!

Thanks huckster for your quick response.

I still feel hard done by and think the interpretation of this rule should be done on an individual basis.

Surely, almost 50 years of claim-free motoring should be critical to assessing NCD.

I should have stated that throughout this period, at least 10 years, when we had 2 cars, both were insured through the same broker and continued when we reduced to one. THEY were fully aware of our continuous NCD record.

Re: Victim of Insurance Rip-Off ?

Yes most companies only accept no claims proof that is up to 2 years old.

I believe the Coop Insurance except no claims proof that is up to 3 years old, so it might be worth contacting them.It might also be worth speaking to a decent local brokers. I believe that sometimes Aviva via brokers will accept NCD proof that is also up to 3 years old.

If you cannot have NCD in your name, then the other options are to look at multi-car policies in your wifes name .

    Angry [:@] Victim of Insurance Rip-Off ?

I am 65 years old and have been driving since I was 17.

I have never caused an accident in almost 50 years, so had earned FULL No Claims Discount.

Until recently, we had 2 cars. My wife insured her car with me as the named driver, and I insured my car with her as the named driver. A usual practice in a lot of families, I am sure.

When we retired, we didn't need 2 cars, so I sold mine.

Approximately 3 years later, we decided to get a second car again, but when I asked for a quote I was told that I wouldn't have any No Claims Discount, as it had expired!

I was told,( what must be one of the best kept secrets of the insurance business), that because I had not insured a vehicle in my own name for more than 2 years, my entitlement to No Claims Discount had lapsed.

I cannot understand the reasoning behind this condition. My claim-free motoring had continued without a break. I present no more of a risk than before. So why am I being punished, annually and on-going.

Can anyone please tell me the reason for this stupid rule?

Or am I just another victim of another insurance RIP-OFF?

    Mr. Angry
