    Re: van hire, contents insurance

    Hi peter,

Thanks, but yes I have. I even trawled the market looking for an insurance company that might include self-removals on its policy home contents and van hire to car hire + others, but with no joy. We went ahead and just took the risk and fortunately all went well. It appears there may be a gap in the market here, or perhaps there is good reason not to offer such a policy. The home contents policies only provides cover you if you are using registered carriers who, confusingly supply their own insurance anyway!

    Many thanks for your time

    Tim

    Hi

Have you taken a look at your home insurance policy?

Most policies include cover for removal day that will cover your furniture whilst its in transit from one destination to another. Although check first whether this is restricted to whether the removal needs to be carried out by a recognised removal firm or if it still applies when arranging the move yourselves.

    Kind Regards
    Peter

    dear mse,

i am moving home soon and have decided to save money and do it myself. However, i am unable to find an insurance company/service that is willing to insure my furniture whilst in transit against accident or theft. Could you sugest a company that can help me with this matter?
