Re: useful information gone missing form forum

    Ian,

I'm afraid I'm not sure what else you expect me to do? Re-instate a post that we've received complaints about just so you can get the name of the firm that was mentioned - who were quite possibly attempting to generate business? Simply not possible, I'm afraid.

Please feel free to start a new post asking for help with your question - something I notice that you haven't done as yet. Alternatively, a quick Google search or look at the yellow pages or local directories will show you names of firms in your area who may be able to help.

Re: useful information gone missing form forum

    Ian,

I don't, I'm afraid. I should clarify that it's not "my" forum at all. I'm simply here to make sure things go smoothly, help out members wherever possible, address their concerns and try to make sure it's a place that people want to continue to come back to.

Regarding the original thread, as I've said before, "We are currently examining the posts as it has been brought to our attention that they could be in contravention of our Community Standards and Terms of Service in respect of advertisement of products and/or services." You can click on the links above to read exactly the responsibilities we ask members to abide by.

I'm sorry you're finding this frustrating: Is there a big problem in waiting for a decision on moderation? I'm afraid it simply looks like you are protesting a little too much...

i dont have a problem with what ever you want to do, its your forum, but if someone is trying to help people like me, i dont understand why you wont let them speak. it sounded like people know about these insurances, i didn't and my estate agent didn't either, do you know where i can get them?

Re: useful information gone missing form forum

    Ian,

That's not the situation at all and I wonder why you feel so aggrieved?

The moneysupermarket.com community area is for people to talk about their personal finances and find answers from like-minded people - it does not exist for companies or individuals to tout for business, advertise their products or promote their services. Members should be able to share their experiences without fear of being 'tapped up' or 'sold to' - it's also illegal. There are plenty of other forums where they may be more relaxed about this, but we like to think that's what makes our community that bit different: no one is out to fleece, scam or sell to anyone else. Removing posts is an absolute last resort but when something is drawn to our attention by our members, we naturally feel a duty to respond and act, if necessary - which is what we are doing in this case.

Every member agrees to abide by the moneysupermarket.com Community Standards and Terms of Service when signing up. They are there for a reason and are quite clear.

As I mentioned earlier, the moderators will make a decision on whether to re-instate or remove these posts in due course.

Once again, many thanks for your patience and understanding.

Re: useful information gone missing form forum

    Hi Ian,

Yes, I can certainly help. The posts have been moved to a private moderation area for assessment by our moderating team. We are currently examining the posts as it has been brought to our attention that they could be in contravention of our Community Standards and Terms of Service in respect of advertisement of products and/or services.

Also, as I'm sure you - and the original posters are aware - laws also exist around the marketing and advertising of a product or service which became law on May 26th 2008 under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.

A decision will be made or whether to re-instate or remove these posts in due course. Many thanks for your patience and understanding.
