    Re: URGENT - PIPEX PETITION

Guys I dont think that petitioning pipex will help, they just dont care.

Has anyone thought about a mass mailing or faxing to all of the stockbrokers in the UK. Maybe if we wreck thier share price the managment will take notice or be replaced?

    Re: URGENT - PIPEX PETITION

Well i have just 10 .11.06 joined pipex homecall, the service is absolute rubbish, was given the wrong connection details, user name and password five phone calls later i got my details sorted, since then the service disconnects. i was told that my router was to blame but as i was using two different routers i doubt it very much, i used to support broardband at microsoft in Reading. i now face the problem the usage policy, more than 1 gig in a week and the adsl service gets put on to a heavy user pipe, i can download more than that via windows update this service is rubbish, when on this hig h user pipe it take an age to open even google, so why now cooling off period..PIPEX/HOMECALL is a complete JOKE service . if i wanted a capped service i would have gone to BT and now i wiswish i had..WAKE UP PIPEX/HOMECALL get into the real world..or become pipe EX

    Re: URGENT - PIPEX PETITION

I was looking for a good ISP and I found this webpage
Virgin.net seems like a good idea; also I've heard good things about it from friends, not sure though
Also I'm sure that AOL, Tiscali and Eclipse have network traffic management which they don't mention anywhere. Beware!!!

    http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/caps.htm

Also about our problems leaving pipex I wil have solution in a couble of days

    Re: URGENT - PIPEX PETITION

i hope you do mate as im at my wits end, i cannot stick this out for another year for sure, it is just impossible to downlaod anything using any kind of p2p, im not even gonna bother phoning up anymore, they have no clue whatsoever, if theyre not lying to you down the phone, they are completely oblivious to what the problem seems to be lol one guy didnt even know what bit torrent was, either that he was problably lying, anyway im just sitting tight watching this forum everyday hoping for a solution to get out.

ps. does anyone know what action they would take if a. you cancelled the direct debit and refused to pay or b. downloaded huge files outside p2p one after the other to try and get them to get rid of you, im willing to try anything!

    thanks

    Tigeryang
The solution I mention will include that too.
The problem is that the people that answer the phones at customer service don't know anything about network traffic management, or bittorrent throttling etc. I've called them many times and every time I got a different answer. But I've used some programs and discover that there is a 24 hour traffic management.
Also many of the people there don't even know the terms and conditions of the company and always tell you that the manager is busy

    Re: URGENT - PIPEX PETITION

    Hi Tigeryang

If it's any help, i've cancelled my direct debit for Pipex - i first instructed my bank to not allow any money to be taken, and then sent a letter to Pipex informing them of the cancellation. I have since had a letter from them ,saying they will cancel my service if I do not provide an alternative payment method (i.e. card number) as I have trust issues with them having any details of mine that enables them to take money this is not going to happen so the service will be cancelled (what a great loss!!!) in the meantime, Virgin.net have been excellent!!!
I'm not sure if they will try to take further action other than cancelling the service, but another letter will be on its way to them soon again telling them about their breach of their own contract!!

Panicos10 - any solutions you may have to these problems would be such a relief - and i'm sure very much appreciated by a lot of people on here, myself included!!! :)

    Hi mate,

You Lucky you got a user name and they replay to you.
I have been 3 MONTHS waiting and they still don't know what to do.
I have send 4 register letters, and no replay to it at all.
PIPEX HOMECALL Are the Worst there is.
I hope they get to Watchdog.

Anyone want a good ISP go back to BT.
You pay a bit more but I was with them for 5 years and never had a problem at all, and they always answer the phone and sort it out soon.

    Hi,
If anyone looking to a good ISP without any problems, and they always respond to you and sort out the problems quick just go to BT.
I was with them for 5 years and no Problems what so ever, and them I move for the Rubbish PIPEX HOMECALL.

    Re: URGENT - PIPEX PETITION

Be patient. I'm currently (not alone of course) studying ''The Consumer Protection Act 1987'' along with the terms and conditions of pipex and I will post my finding today.

    Re: URGENT - PIPEX PETITION

    Tiger,

As i said in my post, if you download over 1GB a week they will put you on heavy users pipe (half a meg connection) for a week. which means you cant download anything lol. most download speed you get is about 20kbs. This is there "Fair use policy" which isnt very fair.So called "unlimited broadband from pipex" is 4GB a month.

    Re: URGENT - PIPEX PETITION

glad to see the thread moving along again :-) panicos, thanks for trying to research and find all of us a trouble free way out of this, im sure im not the only one who hugely appreciates it.

sezzika, dont suppose you could email me a copy of the letter you sent away? im considering going down this route as it seems the only way out at the moment, im just a bit wary of my credit record being affected or debt collectors coming to the door.

    thanks folks

just about to load up my torrent client for some 20k/sec action lol

    Re: URGENT - PIPEX PETITION

We should all be Pipe ex

not sure if this works, take a look at your tcp ip settings that you have now, check them after 11pm they may be different, as in dynamic ip has changed ,and dns servers have changed .mine change when i am on the bad boys list to the 212.0.0.0 range during the day it is 194.0.0.0 range..
is seem to be downloading at 250 k even now lol

Pipex/homecall are so devious in there terms and conditions, that they can do what the hell they like the 1 gig a week is not writen down as far as i can see

    Re: URGENT - PIPEX PETITION

the fair use policy on there site, you can read it. It doesnt mention about the 1GB but when i phoned up thats what i was told. "If you use over 1gb a week you get throttled for a week".
