    Just be a bit careful taking it over 10 years..... over 7 years Northern Rock would charge £1466 in interest..... but over 10 years this rises to £2139! A difference of £673! If you can budget and afford the lower term, I would go for that.

    Northern Rock do a 10-year term for personal loans, regardless of purpose and subject to the regular references and scoring.

    I can't remember which firm it was but I recently saw someone that would do 10 years. A lot of firms have different lengths of times for different purposes (eg they won't lend you money for a holiday over 10 years, but will for home improvements!).

    Yes 7 years is about the max. Most do 5 so if you can get 7 years it sounds a decent deal to me.

    Am I correct in thinking that the maximum term time on an unsecured loan used for the purpose of paying off other debts is 7 years?
