hi conmankiller thank's for the reply most appreciated....

yes there was a ccj put against me. Ive taken your advice and am contacting my local citizens advice bureu for help? unfortunatly there debt phone helpline is closed on a friday (typical). placing an existing £410 onto a £30 fine makes no sense to me, seems that banks, bailliff's and everybody else want to make a living out of honest hard working folk who earn there money. This is the reason there are so many people in debt and struggling to stay a float nowaday's!!!

    thank's again

    Re: unfair debt collection charges.

Hi -- Was there ever a court judgement issued against you ordering that you pay this fine or any costs added. ?

Do not be bullied --- If not these so called bailiffs are not official.... they are merely employees of Newlyns debt collection agency, they have no legal powers of entry whatsoever. If they visit you do not let them in to your house or offer to pay them anything at all, then tell them you want them to leave your property otherwise the Police will be called.

You need help to challenge this as there are only certain "reasonable" costs that can legally be added to your parking fine, a disproportionate punitive charge of £410 added onto a £30 fine is unlawful, totally unreasonable and excessive no matter how many times they allege to have visited you.

I suggest you take any associated paperwork ASAP to your local CAB for their free assistance in this matter, they could write to Newlyns to set them straight and complain on your behalf to the OFT.... who have the powers to take the approriate action against them for their blatant breach of the fair debt collection guidance regulations.

    unfair debt collection charges.

Just wondering if anybody has any advice on where i stand with unfair debt collection charges? Basically i had an unpaid council parking fine which was sold to Newlyns debt collectors they charged me £100 every time a bailliff turned up during the day whilst i was at work. the bill escalated to £440, originally £30. I rang them up and explained my financial situation to them but they where not interested about my problems. They gave me a date when they were going to collect goods from my house and so i called the baillif who was going to turn up, he was helpful and agreed that i could pay him a settlement figure of £300 where he would collect from me personally. After this agreement i could never get hold of the bailliff and had to call the office of Newlyns, they said that there was no records of the agreement and i had to pay an installment of £110 imediately to stop further action. since then ive lost my job, I'm not entitled to job seekers allownce due to my partner earning a small part time wage. I have no methods of paying them and i've missed a payment. help Thank's
