Quite often if you contact your existing insurer explaining that you have just acquired a second vehicle, they will offer you a discretionary free no claims bonus on the second vehicle as a means of securing your new future business. This free introductory offer can range from two tears right up to matching your existing bonus in some cases.

No guarantees but always worth a try and any free bonus is better than starting from scratch again. !

    Hi John,

Went throught the same thing recently, looking at getting a 2nd car as a run around for the weekends and assumed I could apply my 8 years no claims to the new vehicle, but to my amazement you can only apply no claims to one vehicle at a time!

This means the insurance on the new vehicle is far more expensive, which if you ask me is a bit of a con as your driving experience is exactly the same regardless of which car you earned the no claims on.

Two insurance policies with no claims bonus help!

    Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a second car so will need another policy, can I use my no claims bonus from my first policy? I currently have two years no claims but unsure if they would count, do you have to transfer no claims from policy to policy?

Sorry if this question is daft.. I've tried the multi car option with my present company which wasn't very competitive.

    Cheers

    John
