Yes you should inform the Fiesta Insurers of the accident in the other car and they may increase your premium from renewal.

In regard to options, I would suggest that you contact a local Insurance brokers and they will look into this for you.

It's usually best to try and resolve any minor bump without involving insurance companies. Often this involves swapping phone and registration numbers, and, if one party is at fault, the other party may get an estimate or two for the person at fault to pay. If such an arrangement cannot be agreed to everyone's satisfaction, then insurance companies can be involved and everyone usually ends up worse off.

However, once insurance companies have been notified about an accident, then that accident will need to be declared on all renewals for the next few years. You can, if you wish, use the policy with the most NCB for your main car but you will still need to declare the accident and you should still expect a premium increase.

Two different insurers, two different cars, same policy holder.

    Hi there, after some advice.

I have two cars, a Volvo I use for work and an old Fiesta i rarely use. I have a policy for each with different insurers and my other half is a named driver on both cars (she rarely uses either to be honest).

The Volvo insurance has 8 years no claims discount and the Fiesta insurance has 7 years no claims discount. For starters is this even OK?! I have always had my own personal car which has provided me with the 8 years but also i used to have a company car for 4 years which i used to insure my fiesta which i have now had for 3 years, giving me the 7 in total on that one.

Anyhow, i had an accident in my Volvo last year (a very minor touch in the back of another vehicle for which i was at fault). There was no damage or injury to the other party but unfortunately the claim is still not settled (waiting for damage report still after 6 months!!) and i have just had my renewal quote through and as such it has more than trippled! I was told by current insurer that even though it is still not settled, the fact i was at fault will not change the renewal quote when it is settled.

My querey is, when my insurance is up on my Fiesta later in the year I imagine i will get an automatical renewal. Do i need to inform them of accident in my Volvo as it was on a completely different policy and car and totally unrelated to this one? If indeed that is ok, would i be better to ditch my existing insurer on the Volvo and add it on to the other Fiesta policy as a multi-car?

    Hope this all makes sense...
