Re: Trying to build a credit rating but getting kicked in the teeth.

I don't understand the aggression. I also don't understand the obvious assumption that Linford04 is the only person with the relevant experiance/experties on the forum (because he isn't) and that the Woolich is automaticaly everyones choice of banker (which it isn't)

I also cannot understand the implication that experts have no experiance of the problem. How does he think they become experts. There is no formal qualification in Bank Account Opening for those With an Advese Credit History.

The other point that occures is that he of course is an expert in all fields in which he posts advice as "...I speak form(sic) FACTS AND EXPERIIENCE...."

Hi. For a bank account try Nat west step account or a Nationwide Cash Builder account.

Thanks for the reply. I contacted the co-op and they said they would remove most of the searches but still could not give me an account. I just want to know the best way for me and my partner to gain an excelent credit rating from scratch. Also i am a member of credit expert.com experians web site and everthing that i can see looks fine. Does anybody know what other information lenders can access? Because i'm sure they know more than they tell us??

Trying to build a credit rating but getting kicked in the teeth.

I am currently in the process of transforming myself from a student bum to a young professional. I have been conscious of my credit file for some time and I am now trying to build it for mortgage purposes. I did have 3 credit card balances, which I have been paying off. The first was a Barclaycard, which I paid off in £100 pound installements on the premise that after I had paid off the balance they would let me transfer my other 2 credit card balances to them so I could pay them off with 0% interest. After achieving a £0 balance with Barclaycard they told me I could have a platinum card but with no extra limit and would not let me transfer any balance. They told me this was due to stricter more responsible lending decisions. But to me this seemed strange as they would allow me to continue spending on there card but would not help in the repayment of any other card. I told them I was trying to pay off my debt not get any more and closed the account. I also recently paid off my second capital one credit card in full using some savings I had and closed this account to. I am now left with just one card from egg which I am currently paying.

I have recently got engaged and wished to open a joint current and savings account with the co-op bank. My partner has no previous credit file as she has never had any credit before. We registered her with Experian to start off the credit file. The co-op after a long process of sending in 6 months bank statements from both my partner and I agreed to open an account for us. But then weeks later changed there minds and decide that they couldn't do it. We asked for NO overdraught on our current account and were most concerned about not being allowed a savings account, which we wanted for our house savings. We have been messed around a lot with the co-op and after spelling my partners name wrong and making several cloned application have left around 7 credit searches on her file and a couple on mine too.

I am worried that this has ruined our not very great credit. And would like to know what I should do to build the strongest credit file possible for the both of us so we can get a mortgage around 6 months down the line.
    Thanks for you help.
