Insurers generally stipulate that you have to be registered with a local GP so that they can easily access medical records in the event of a claim where they feel that your previous medical history is relevant.

As indicated by Maxine the process of registering with a GP is quite quick and painless. Certainly easier than the problems that you may face if you travel uninsured or have the insurers questioning the validity of the policy after you incur costs.

    Good luck.

    Hi

If all travel companies are stating that you need to be registered with a GP then unfortunately you won't be covered if you are not.  As far as I know you only have to fill a form in to register with GP's and therefore shouldn't take up too much of your time just double check with your local GP they will be able to confirm if this is the case.

    thanks
