    Travel insurance - alcohol

Hi, I need to get a new annual, worldwide travel insurance for myself and my partner. Flexi cover direct seem to be good but after reading the small print it stated that there is no cover for excessive alcohol intake; being under the influence of alcohol. I'm just wondering if this applies to every insurance company and when they say 'under the inflence of alcohol' does that mean any amount of alcohol ie: 1 x beer or wine in the system?

It's just a little worrying when alcohol tends to be drunk a lot when on holiday and accidents do happen!!

    Many thanks, Amanda

Hi --- I think this is where you need written clarification from the company(s) concerned, on what they consider to be "excessive". ?

Reality is an illusion....caused by lack of alcohol. !

    Hi Amanda

Having checked several different policies with different insueres sold through a variety of organisations from Supermarkets to Banks to online retailers they all carry some form of exclusion in respect of alcohol.

How each insurer would apply that restriction could vary and will almost certainly be considered on a case by case basis. Therefore it is impossible to say exactly what cover our insurers or any others would give if a claim occurs while a client is under the influence of alcohol but if the wording is taken literally then most insurers would be able to decline a claim if the claimant had been drinking even the smallest amount of alcohol.

Sorry I cannot be more specific.
