    Travel Care Hire in Spain?

Im so confused as to which company is best. I am looking for 3 medium sized vehicles to hire on arrival at Malaga airport in a week for 7 days. I thought I had decided on one until I read some reviews in regards to the fuel costs charged. Given a full tank when collecting the vehicle however I have to bring the vehicle back empty? and I am charged if it isnt. Why? and some of the charges can be up to 95euros so one review stated. Any ideas? Need to get this booked as soon as so greatful for any advice or recommendations please.

    Thanks

The last time I hired, the tank had to be half empty on return. I doubt that you'll have to bring it back empty because then there'd be a lot of breakdowns on the way to drop the car off. Some hire companies will do things different to others. Some charge a mileage (or km) charge as well as the daily rate.

If life was as easy as one company being best, the other companies would go out of business.

Re: Travel Care Hire in Spain?

I have been hiring cars several times a year in spain for a number of years now and have noticed that it is nigh on impossible to locate a renter who offers a 'full full fuel policy' i.e. a full tank of petrol is charged to credit card but reimbursed when car is returned with full tank of fuel. Car hire companies charge an expensive rate for fuel and make further profit when the car is returned with petrol. I have been in the position several times whereby I have only used a half tank of petrol but paid for an expensive full one. However, I think you may have the advantage as you are renting 3 vehicles and there may possibly be room for negotiation. On one rental for 3 days I contacted a few agents via mail to request a full full fuel policy and found Carjet very helpful. Hope this helps.

Have been hiring cars at Malaga for about 5 years, about 3 times a year. This year prices have gone thro the roof.

I understand this is due to the rental companies not getting profits on resale of their old stock, due to shortage of new cars.

They now charge for full tanks, daily insurance wavier, extra drivers etc. try the small companies and maybe accept an older car. Still looking..

Re: Travel Care Hire in Spain?

Car rental companies are robbing us on average £40 per rental with the "return the tank empty" scam;it's just pure and simple robbery.A small car has a 35 liter tank but they charge you for a 50 liter at £50 ;on return the tank will have from £10 to £25 of petrol that they steal from us.

The solution is only rent from companies who have the policy "return the tank full",Complain to the press ,Spanish tourism board or take them to court for Highway Robbery.

I have used Centauro before and found them to be flexible on the fuel issue, if you ask. They are not the cheapest but I have found their service to be pretty good. This was at Valencia but I guess it may be company policy to be flexible.
