Thanks Carlos - I'll do this immediately as I have an appointment with our mortgage provider this Saturday so I need to act fast!

    Hi Charlotta,

You can do it all in one go and set up a new mortgage with another lender and do the transfer of equity whilst this is going on. Speak to an independant broker who should be able to pick the most appropriate lender for you and hopefully put you in touch with a decent cheap solicitor.

    Transfer of Equity and Remortgage

    Hello

I have an appointment with my mortgage provider to take my husband's name off our mortgage as we are separating and have agreed that I should take over the mortgage. At the same time our discounted tracker rate is coming to an end next month. I have a worry that the mortgage provider may not agree to me being the sole name on the mortgage as I do not earn as much as my husband and we will be charged £160 for the application whether they agree that I can take it on or not.

My question is, is it possible that I can just remortgage the house with another provider taking it out just in my name and then change the house papers with a solicitor or do I need to go through the process of taking my husband's name off our current mortgage and then remortgaging at a later date seeing as the current discounted rate is coming to an end?

    I hope this makes sense.

    Thanks for any advice.
