    Tooth whitener scam ?

I recently sent for the sample of Dazzlewhite tooth brightener, the p&p I understood to be aprox £2. turned out to be £7.51 plus overseas transaction costs of £1.25. Since then I have had amounts of £50.02, £51.01, and £31.53 taken from my account, all with the transaction costs. Total cost for a small pen like item being £145.10.

My bank has closed the account from which the debits were taken and issued me with a new one.

I want to warn everyone to be carefull, I was taken in by the story of the young woman that got wonderful results. It would have been better had I gone to my dentist. An expensive lesson learnt, one I could ill afford.

A friend asked me to do a bit of research on the whitener. Overwhelmingly they don't work unless you have a professional job (allowed to use stronger stuff) and can damage your teeth. Certainly you should go to your dentist for advice first and from memory the GDC say this on their website.

In a situation like this - is there any way that a "scamee" can get their money back - without having to resort to court, which I assume that nobody would bother with for such a relatively small sum of money ?

I also assume that the scammers are aware of this fact ?

(Unless the scamee paid by credit card ?)
