Hello,
My credit rating has become alittle poor recently due partly two reasons I think 'searches' and one missed card payement. Last year I seem to have gathered allot of searches for credit when I was looking for loan to buy car. The payment was missed because of by off ill. but no excuse all my own fault. The current finance I have is £4000 on an mbna creadit card and £2000 on barclays credit card as well as an interest free student overdraft (part postgrad student) which runs at about £1000 overdrawn. I do have some savings of £5000 which is a gift from a family member which I'll not use to pay debts.
My question though is I need to improve my credit rating to buy a house later in the year. The £5000 will be deposit. I know that come june the credit checks will be gone of my credit rating as there over a year old. All the others after that date are unrecorded or insurance. My question though is whats the best way to pay these debts and improve my rating. I can pay £400 a month a moment to clear some. Last month I paid £200 on each credit card. Am I better of paying a little on each or trying to clear one of first and just pay minime on the other?
The overdraft will not be an issue because I'll move the funds from my savings account later as they get interest in savings and the overdraft is interest free.
'Thanks in advance for any advice"
Cheers
