    Re: The Utility Warehous

I am of no help, but in a similar situation. Utility Warehouse supplied our service to our rented 2 bed flat. Did not have too many issues, other than them taking payment twice. Was not a huge problem, our gas and electric bills were reasonable at about £ 60 monthly. So was not a huge hole in the bank. They refunded the money, no problem.

Been two months into our new 3 bed rented home. Utility Warehouse were once again inherited from landlord. Utility Warehouse took a while to grasp our address change. Took several phone calls to ensure old and new meter readings were taken. Our first proper bill was a massive shock. £190.00 for one month. It seems we did not only gain one extra bedroom, but a huge £130.00 jump in bill! Checked with customer services and est. readings and actual usage are correct. Odd that Landlord (friend of mine, with 3 extra children in her household) only paid around £120.00 per month for her energy, so it couldn't have been that company estimated my usage on her previous billing.

Any-way, paid off that bill using our card having already cancelled direct debit with the thought we would switch suppliers immediately (didn't realise it could take so long) . That was paid on the 21 st Jan, and just looking at our account they have reinstated the direct debit and taken the same amount again!

We are fuming, have gone into an unauth. overdraft, and because of Utility Warehouse crappy phone line hours, we can not get hold of them until tomorrow!

    The Utility Warehous

I inherited the account from the previous tenants of my home. I have found the Utility Warehouse a terrible company to deal with. I wanted to change to an alternative supplier, but the new supplier were slow in following up with my order. As a result I received a threatening bailiffs letter stating that I had an outstanding balance, and that a bailiff visit would follow within 3 days. My payments on my account were up to date, however I had not taken up the payment by direct debit scheme, and United Utility issued a bailiff warning letter for a deposit that they wanted me to pay.

I have since changed suppliers, and as a result I have been charged an unspecified fee of £35, apparently for debt/legal fees.

This is the worst energy supplier I have had the misfortune to use. Their communications are officious and threatening and I would recommend that anyone considering using them not to.
