Re: the great bell rip off

    Hi

Bell have not tried to rip you off. We make assumptions in delivering a quote from over 60 insurers in two minutes whilst not asking you every question that each insurer would do individually. This means that there can occasionally be differences. Usually these are within 5%.

Also insurers change thier pricing algorythems regularly and this can be a factor in a change. Price differences can both more or less that that quoted. See our terms or do a quote to see the assumptions that are made.

With regard to the user that suggests that we all stick with the same insurer, I say HA! This is why so many of us get riped off. If everyone stuck with the same insurer there would be no shopping around and the price that we would be charged would be much greater. Insurers themselves tell me this!

The ABI (association of British Insurers) say that if the average person compared just five insurers they should save on average 35%. Nuff said.

Re: the great bell rip off

it wouldnt be a disaster, the insurance company would keep the prices on the same level they are now.

one insurance company would be fantastic. No more quibbling over a few pounds. Though you would still get 99% of people calling to ask if the insurer can lower it...........NO THEY CANT! IF THEY COULD IT WOULDNT SAY THAT PRICE ON THE SCHEDULE WOULD IT?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Something should be done about customers travelling from one insurer to the next every single year, its not right, theres no loyalty to the company (even though the customer expects loyalty discounts!)

Back on the topic, if he wanted the online discount, he should have tried to get a policy online later that day or maybe the next day. Too many customers use the excuse "i couldnt get online because your website was down" to gain even more discount. Companies have twigged onto it and are now telling customers to try online a bit later.

firstly, the facility to complete the transaction online was not available(you have to phone them).secondly for there to be 1 insurance company would be a disaster.no competition so prices rise.maybe the way forward would be government insurance like in russia where everyone pays a scaled price depending on vehicle

Re: the great bell rip off

Not really no. You should have asked about any cancellation fee's, read terms and conditions.

Not only that, but the reaosn it was £40 different is because you get a discount for doing it online. You didnt do it online, therefore your not entitled to the online discount. Online discount can be given because your doing all the work yourself.

PO may have given you £50 cashback, but what you gonna do next year when their premium is high and theres no cashback? You will search round and leave them, again this is my arguement about customer loyalty.

I stick with the same company, I dont even phone around, because i trust my insurer and i know what im getting from them. I did do 2 quotes at last renewal to see what price range is around and yes i found it £40 cheaper, but it wont be next year because thats a introductory discount and franky, i have better things to do than spend a day or 2 looking to save a few pounds on car insurance, when i could just spend the day with my family!!

People think far too much about car insurance. Cancellation fees are a good thing. I also cant wait for the whole 1 insurer thing to happen.

I also read that ina couple of years, it could be that all insurers have a clause where if you take a policy, you have to stay with the same company for 3 years - and no you cant lie and say you have sold the car and then go to a different company because it will also involve the dvla.

I love the sound of the future of car insurance! Its great!

    the great bell rip off

went on internet to get quote for car price came up but i could only phone them.when i did they quoted me nearly £40 difference on internet price.unfortunately after accepting premium and thinking about it i went to the PO website (good guys)who were dearer to start with but offered £50 cashback.took there policy and tried to cancel bell policy(bad guys)only to be told there is a £19 cancellation fee.i explained policy had not even started and was annoyed about the price quoted on web being different to the price given to me.there answer to me was "Moneysupermarket had got the price wrong"????? and they were still charging me £19.does anyone else think something is wrong here?????
