Rather than snooping on energy customers the government should tap into the records of retailers (I believe in some parts of the world T K Maxx are already quite liberal with whom they share their customers' information.) Any unemployed person tracked shopping in Primark et al should have their benefits immediately suspended until they take a job. Once working if they prove to be wilfully unemployable through a stroppy attitude they should be shipped off to work in chains in the sweatshops.

    Supply and demand.

The customer does not want to pay more

From the TV Times: "Former model Alexa Chung sets out to discover whether the world of discount clothing deserves its reputation for contributing to unethical workplace conditions in developing countries."

I am torn between being deeply ashamed that I don't boycott the usual suspects and not being sure that the workers wouldn't be even worse off without my self interested custom. Why the usual suspects in the UK and the US don't exert pressure on the countries concerned by insisting on paying them more and ensuring it gets to the workers I don't know?
