    Tax on renting my house.

    Hi all i have been renting my house out for over 2 years,i own the house as the mortgage is now paid up,what i dont know is do i have to pay any tax on it?thank you in advance

    The short answer is yes! Tax is payable on the rents due each tax year less allowable expenses such as mortgage interest, repairs, council tax etc. If you have made a profit and assuming that you have other income which uses your personal allowances, you woll have a tax liability. You shouls contact the tax office as soon as possible and ask them to send you a tax return.
