Re: TalkTalk's attempts to claim money illegally

i had the same problem they charged me for two bundled mobiles which i didnt own and told me they couldnt de active and the money would keep coming out of my account. they took £80 from me over a period of 4 months and after £120 of calls to their rubbish customer suppert and getting nowhere i decided to cancell my direct debit as i had heard about them gleaning extra payments from accounts that were closed.

If i stole money from talk talk i would be in jail, how can they get away with it the other way round? anyway i refused to pay the subsequent bills as they actually owed me more money than i owed them. they registered a default and have now affect my credit status.

my advice to everyone is AVOID talk talk like the plague, the agressive marketing is a hint as how they conduct their business and nothing surprises me to their unscrupulous behavior.

I have just had a thought, though. I had a problem once when I cancelled a credit card account which had some £64 credit on it. I phoned, wrote, etc for months and got nowhere. Then I wrote to them and told them that if I did not receive my money within seven days, I would take them to the small claims court. Within two days, I received a cheque. You can download forms to claim on the internet, though not sure of the site, and it would certainly be worth a try.

Re: TalkTalk's attempts to claim money illegally

TalkTalk are owned by the Carphone Warehouse, with whom I have had a despicable experience. My son, who is mentally retarded, got a contract phone with them. Almost a year later, they phoned him when I was out and talked him into having an upgrade. The "upgrade" was not as good as the phone he already had, and when I phoned to complain, I got the usual "we can't talk to you because of the Data Protection Act". I asked them to listen to their recordings of the call as it is obvious to anyone that he did not understand what he was agreeing to. They couldn't possibly trawl through all those recordings, could they? They insisted that he had answered security questions, but I know for a fact that he does not know his date of birth, or his postcode (or even his address for that matter) nor anything else they may have asked. As you say, thoroughly unscrupulous and I ended up having to change his phone number to stop them from pestering him with more "offers". When I had a similar experience with someone from Barclays Bank selling him credit card insurance (he does not have any credit cards) they listened to the recording, agreed that he obviously did not know what he was buying, sacked the sales rep who phoned him, refunded his money and sent him £50 compensation. None of this helps you, but I thought you would like to know that you are not alone in having problems with this dreadful company.

TalkTalk's attempts to claim money illegally

After a disastrous experience with TalkTalk when I moved house I gave up on their cutomer disservices and signed up with other phone & broadband companies. TalkTalk still owe me the money I paid for renting a line which wasn't working, and for all the mobile calls I had to make to their customer services. Instead of suggesting when they might be paying this money, they've sent me two bills - for connection & disconnection! Obviously I'd already cancelled the direct debit, but I've just read some of the reviews, and see some people in my situation are threatened with court cases. I'm going to contact consumer programmes like Watchdog and You & Yours this weekend, as I'm obviously dealing with a completely unscrupulous company. Maybe if others in the same situation do the same, we might get something done. The only thing TalkTalk seems to react to is negative publicity; when I posted a negative review on this site, I had an email inviting me to give details of the problems I'd encountered. That, however, is as far as it goes!
