Re: TalkTalk, talk rubbish.
Hi Cher, Im sorry to hear about the problems you have encountered with this issue. If you would like to join the TalkTalk Members Forum (http://www.talktalkmembers.co.uk/forums) and we can investigate into this issue in more detail. We need to confirm the details of the orignal sale in regards to the promise to pay any cancellation fees from BT before we can make a judgement in regards to this aspect of your issue. ONce we investigate further into this issue we can advise you further on the best course of action in regards to this issue. Regards Mark

Re: TalkTalk, talk rubbish.
Can someone help? I went with talk talk from BT a few months ago with my landlines and broadband. I now have 2 bills in from them both one for landline talk talk (£23) and the other from BT for broadband (£66) per month. I should be with talk talk for both but when i called up talk talk they said something about the MAC code i gave them was invalid?? Which is not my problem i got this from BT. I was never informed that this was the case and assumed everything was through Talk talk til now. When i first decided to go to talk talk they said they would pay for my cancellation fee from BT but now i have everything to pay including a £180 cancellation fee from BT if i want to cancel because i am contracted?? WHAT?? So i either cancel BT and pay £250 (cancellation fee and bill) to be with talk talk or stick to BT and keep paying £66 per month just for broadband can anyone help here? I do not know what to do but i am absolutly raging here!!!!!!! What a waste of time with them both. It is talk talks fault for not doing it right in the first place but they will not pay a thing now.

Re: TalkTalk, talk rubbish.
TALKTALK_SUPPORT:Hi Mona_wilson, Sorry for the delay getting back to you.
New line instalations with TalkTalk are charged at £59.99. Migrations from another provider are £29.99. If your line was with Virgin then it is possible it was not connected to BTs network meaning a new line instalation would be required. In order to look into this properly we would need to ask you to register and post at www.talktalkmembers.com/forums so we can access your account. Cheers Em x
Today im happy, I recieved a MAC code via text from talk talk,, after 3 months of random cut offs and ridiculously low speeds. I would not believe a word that comes out of the mouths of these idiots,, Talk Talk insisted that the fault was with my line, well 3 engineers later that was proved wrong,, there next excuse was that maybe the extension lead I was using from the main BT socket to my router was slowing the connection down,, lol, then it was the router itself! and then the ADSL filters,, Originally i signed up with Tiscali, there service was great, stable connections great speed then talk talk tuck over and well that was the end of that.. Im counting down the days until the migration takes place and join my new provider ,so i never have to deal with those fools again,, Avoid like the plague!

Re: TalkTalk, talk rubbish.
Talk talk is not only rubbish, they are cheating. I started with them in January. They did not send me any contract. The deal was 29.99 for installation. so they took this amount on the first month as a one off. When the trial time was over, I got the contract that the installation fee is 59.99. So during the third month they took another 29.99 from the direct debit. They do not respond to emails and every time I call them, they say it has been a mistake and will refund the money but they never do. The customer service is disgusting. They are usually in Cape town or India and they don't have any authority to do anything for you. I will definitely go back to Virgin when my contract is finished with them.

Re: TalkTalk, talk rubbish.
Totally unhappy with talktalk I set up talktalk to go live with them on the 19th Sep 2007, and by the 21st i had doubts. i was lurred to change to talk talk by thier cheap service charges which was going to save me 25 quid a month against BT. my problem with talk talk is this 1: poor conection speeds not getting anywhere close to the 8 meg line they offered, with bt at high traffic times i was still getting around 6 meg, lucky to get 2 meg at the moment 2:isp server down time, i was in the middle gaming when i got disconected the service was down from 7:00pm until 12:00pm this was on the 23rd , and i have had random disconections since then, a relative of mine as also had extreme down time with thier service I guess you get what you pay for a low cost broadband and phone service, which speaks for its self POOR. At the moment i am trying to get my line back to BT before my 30 day trial expires, the only promblem im getting now is that BT cannot find my line even though im using the landline phone to speak to BT,LLU problems. thankfully BT are now sorting this problem out for me. My view is this BT may not be the cheapest provider out there but i was with them for broadband for almost 2 years running to systems one wired the other wireless with no problems at all and am looking foward to getting back to the stabble conection i am used to. i would also say this if you have just signed with talk talk and you feel a heavy feeling in the stomach , that is this Talk Talk feeling the only way to get rid of that feeling is to get out of your contract as fast as you can Good Luck.

Re: TalkTalk, talk rubbish.
heathery: I encountered some very aggressive sales marketing from talk talk. I was interested in signing up with their package and ask for more details and the direct debit form to be posted out to me and was met with a barrage of phonecalls from their manager. I found the shouty, bossy agressive tone of pushy marketing fully reprehensible and after the 3rd call told them I was no longer interested. I don;t think anyone should be bullied into taking a package without having the right to look at a full set of terms and conditions before agreement. A short lecture was given to me about the safety of giving out sort code details by phone and i still replied that I am prepared to try talk talk provided they send out the t&c by mail. So they tried to bully me into their way of thinking, which is not what i wish to do so told them to step off. I could only imagine this is the kind of stressful pushy people I would have to be dealing with in future and am not interested in the slightest at being spoken to that way. In my job, if people want mail, a phone call, a letter I am more than happy to supply that as I have nothing to hide. So what was their problem? I would phone TalkTalk and make a complaint. Most of their staff even in the cheap wage call centres are over polite - just not very good at fixing problem! But they are polite and ask if they can help with anything else and stuff. If they start saying "Have a nice day". I'm getting a new supplier! lol

I usually support TalkTalk on this forum - but my ADSL was off for 10 days and I got the run around from the people in the cheap pay call centres. Ask to be escalatted to their escalations department if you have problems. In my case I needed the Broadband section in the UK. I got them eventually and the problem was fixed within minutes - I admit to threatening legal action ( it always seems to help ). I also was told to contact Netgear the makers of my modem / router - also idiots! You get what you pay for usually - so I don't expect a perfect service from TalkTalk. They get what they pay for with their call centres in Asia - crap most of the time - although some of the staff are good. I'm not being racist! I hate forums - the font is too bloody small to read!

Re: TalkTalk, talk rubbish.
I came across this big posting and thought it may be of interest to resurrect it in the light of Charles Dunstone's apparent appearance on R5 Live earlier this week when he apparently said things were sorted.

Re: TalkTalk, talk rubbish.
To get out of the contract you TalkTalk must be in breach of contract.
I got out of mine as follows:
Registered fot TT on 27th August.
Told phone would be live on 12th Sepember.
19th September phone still not active so cancelled.
TT refused to remove my line status from pending order so could not switch to another provider.
Numerous calls to TT Customer services was useless.
Phoned Trading Standards. They told be to send letter to TT (Recorded Delivery) quoting Sale of goods and services Act.
The Act states that if a provider does not deliver goods and services as stated in a timely fashion then they are in breach of contract.
My letter stated that TT promised pnone line on 12th Sep but did not supply said line. Although they are undoubtedly inundated with requests for their services, they were aware of this at the time of making my offer and they should not have given me a completion time which they could not meet. Therefore they were in breach of contract. The Act states that I can either give them more time to provide the services or that I can cancel the contract.
I informed TT that I was exercising my right to cancel and that they had until 2o Oct to free or disconnect my line. Failure to do so would mean I would have a new line installed by BT at cost of £125.00 and I would be seeking compensation from TT.
I sent this letter to TT Complaints Dept (If one exists) and copied to OFCOM, Trading Starnards, lctsis, Charles Dunestone (Chief exec TT), Colin Thompson (Compliance Managet TT) and stated that I had published the letter on the Internet. (I suppose this reply constitutes that).
They now seem to have cancelled my contract.

Re: TalkTalk, talk rubbish.
In being affected would that mean having to wait for 3 months to get connected to the internet?
I am trying to get out of this TalkTalk contract and it gets even worse if you are moving home... you have to sign a 3 month contract with BT until they reconnect you... then they enter you into a new contract - another 18 months - and I suppose I will be without internet for another 3 months as I will be with BT??
I think I may have found a way - they took the connection fee out of the wrong accout - so am going to get someone to phone on my behalf tomorow - as I think they have broken a clause in the contract and I don't seem to be able to get anywhere with them when I call.
When I say I am unhappy and would like to cancel my contract they just say that will be £70 please and are not interested in the reasons why... I will pay the £70 as a last resort but if anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful Thanks. I have also emailed them twice - no reply.
