I just tested my broadband and it says I am getting 6.5mbs. Can't believe it!!!!

Thanks for that information,I thought that was hard to believe,I would try what you advise if I knew what it all meant,as I am quite happy with my connection I might plead ignorance in this case is bliss and leave well enough alone.

The 54mbps will be the speed between your PC and the router, not the speed between your router and the internet. Try running a speedtest using the speedtester at www.thinkbroadband.com

Hi, Just joining in this forum,as a talktalk broadband customer since april 2006 and not had any problems with speed because as a complete computor novice if I turned it on and it worked I was happy I decided to get one of my more swiched on sons to check the connection speed,to his amazement it reads a strength of 54 mbps,I asummed from his surprize that this is good-can anyone confirm this?

Is says 100mb mode and I have been testing for the last fortnoght. I goes as low as 624 but never higher

Does your modem have an indicator to tell whether it's set to 10Mb or 100Mb mode?

Ir's probably your distance from the exchange or other user contention. How long have you been testing and how does it vary over time?

But they told me they had upgraded the exchange so is this as good as it gets?

(It's just Talk Talk.) But don't shout too loudly. 2.8mb/s is (relatively) pretty good going.

I am no expert but at the moment on  my MT882 ethernet I am getting 2.8mbs download and .384 upload. Would buying a better ethernet improve to of is it just TALKTALK?
