Re: Taking out multiple credit cards

Making several credit applications in a short time will lower your credit score. Not making any more applications for a few months will push the score back up again.Paying the minimum each month over a long period will not look good on your credit record but this can be rectified simply by paying off the full balance with your own money."Damage" and "repair" are quite strong words and I feel that it would be more appropriate here to talk about the score going up or down.

    Taking out multiple credit cards

    Hey,

I'm looking to take out two credit cards in order to increase the amount of credit I have available.

I have never had a credit card or loan before only an overdraft (never exceeded) so don't really have a credit history (unless phone contracts come into the playing field? - Which I have never missed a payment over the last five years). I also don't have any CCJ ect.

I have apply for two credit cards am I right in thinking this will mean two credit checks will occur which can actually
    damage my credit rating?

Also if I borrow credit but only pay off the minimum rather than the balance "in full" will this harm my credit rating as opposed to paying off the credit in full every month? If so how do I repair the credit rating?

I've applied so far for the Nationwide select credit card which gives me 18 months purchases at 0%

    Thanks!

    Sam
