My daughter is about to commence a 2 year lease on a flat in Manchester sharing with 3 others but there is no BT line currently. There were looking at SKY for a basic TV package, evening and weekend calls and broadband but are put off by the BT instal costs of approx £125.

Can you advise best deal for a shared wireless internet service with any other benefits of calls and/or TV channels?

I have been in the same position since i am also a student moving into a house this year.

if you're looking for an all in one package, virgin media are the best place to go to.

you can get all 3 services- phone (M), tv(M ) and broadband(L) for £25.00 a month (this is advertised as £14.00 plus £11 a month phone line rental)

as well as line rental, unlimited weekend UK landline calls are provided in this package.

the broadband offered is upto 10mb speed with unlimited downloads, more than sufficient for a group of 4 students.

the TV provided is basic freeview television but at an additional cost of £5.50, the students will be provided with 20 most popular channels including sky1 and living. This would mean the total cost per month is £30.50.

If the students required more choice, they could choose the Large (L) TV package which includes over 100 channels, making the total cost of all three packages £35 a month.

The best thing about virgin is that if you order online, there is free installation and £20 off your first bill.
