    Re: Splash Online UK - mis-sold 3 contract/phone

Hi ..Thought i'd up date you on my splash online problem... As you're most probably aware they have gone bust [no suprise there then] ... The phone message left by those con men advised that i contact 3 mobile...so I did.. After approx 5 weeks of waiting while they investigsgate ..I had an offer made from them..

I got £150 of credit on my contract, which means about 5-6 months free mobile use,,starting with immediate effect..there is a proviso tho. I had to extend my 3 mobile contract by 6 months..The saying 'give with one hand and take away with the other' springs to mind, but it was better than nothing, so I agreed, after all i will be using a mobile for years to come and lets face it, someone is always willing to offer a great deal for getting you out of an existing mobile phone contract!!! ha

Hope you all have success stories regarding this matter

    Re: Splash Online UK - mis-sold 3 contract/phone

From a mobile phone companies point of view, they want sales, connections, new customers and upgrades- therefore they pay 3rd party companies commision on how they do this, its then down to them as to HOW they do this, so if they offer a free laptop, PS3, cash back etc, its all done through them, as this is the agreement that is between to retailer and the customer, it is then down to the mobile company to provide line rental, signal, mins and messages. Too many people fall for these 'offers', they shoud always go direct to the company, because then its their responsability

This sounds very familiar to the situation with a company called 'clickmobile' . They went bust around 18 month to 2 years ago, and left so many customers hanging. They had cash back offers/free laptops etc, and were unable to pay them. Orange and 3g took no liability, as they had not raised the contracts. If you check here on this forum for clickmobile, you may find some useful advice.

They were reported to relevant authorities, and had to stop trading,. The case was even brought up on Watchdog. The sad thing is, they owed so many larger establishments money, and the average consumer, was at the bottome of people to pay back. I was left seriously out of pocket by it.

I do think its bad that the major networks wash their hands of the situation. If you don't pay the mobile bills, they are quick register that with credit ref agencies, so beware of this.

I think the major phone companies, should be sure the third parties can deliver what they .The problem is with more mobile companies to choose from , they offer incentives to companies like splash to get more sign ups, and once again the consumers are left hanging. I would not be suprised, if its some of the same MD's setting up these companies time and time again.

    Nixxy

    Re: Splash Online UK - mis-sold 3 contract/phone

I contacted O2 regarding my information the said they do not pass on personal information, but banks have had problems with staff at overseas centres selling information.

I have had a 5mth battle with Splash, my Trading standards office wrote to Splash with my complaint, Splash denies offering me any cash back or headset, memory card or that written information was not sent (as they had sent it to the wrongly spelt email address) that the contract was for 18mths and not 12mths. or that I have made a legal request to return the phone under the distance selling act 2000.

So I have asked for all information held under the Data Protection Act 1998 as this inculdes phone recordings we will see who's tell the truth

I have also refused to pay 3G (so Splash dont get their fee) got my MP and OFCOM, Local Trading Standards and made 3G investigate the selling of my mobile, they have so far had trouble getting information from Splash which helps my case.

    Re: Splash Online UK - mis-sold 3 contract/phone

Very possibly you are right about your contract nearing the end. Did you actually check with O2 that they gave your details to a third party!

Yes they can buy DATA if you have agreed that your DATA can be shared, check with O2.

But what if they were using data which had your mobile phone on it - so they know which provider you have and they just strike lucky with the cold phonecall. They give the impression that they know about your contract etc... but if you ask any question of them they will not be able to answer you.

Also, your provider should not be passing your details to third parties to make cold calls. I would if that were the case be very angry if they did that especially if I had not requested on the original contract that my personal details be given out.

Have you at any time ever applied for a loan! even if you never actually took out the loan!

    Thanks

    Re: Splash Online UK - mis-sold 3 contract/phone

    Hi all,

I am new to this forum and have read with horror what has happened with you guys in connection with this company.

The name Jason Cunliff with same address has come up with some concerns of mine and others with another company called Cento Client Review. They have been contacting peeps on a completely different tactic to do with reclaiming mortgage charges, however the result is they are asking for money up front.

I need to ask when they telephoned you did they know any of your personal details! as in our case they knew far to much about us.

    Thanks

    Re: Splash Online UK - mis-sold 3 contract/phone

yes i did but it was only because I saw all this. I tried to get on their website and could not and ended up finding all these threads and cancelled BUT only because they rang back with a query, as I had tried to ring them and got no answer.

Hopefully everyone will get some money back

    Re: Splash Online UK - mis-sold 3 contract/phone

Well I am sorry to read this. I was lucky enough to cancell less than an hour after having agreed to it, because I read this! Never been so grateful.

I am not sure what happens but I believe it was fraud because their website was never accessible and no-one ever answered the phone.

I do hope you can get it sorted and I KNOW I WIll NEVER agree on the phone about a contract.

    Good Luck
