Re: Smile Bank Loan Settlement Figure

Thanks Tim for the reply. I have paid what they're asking included the last payment and yes I won't take out another loan with them again ever!

I've wrote to them saying what a disgrace it had been. I did have one of their replies in wring as I bank online with them which I printed off and enclosed with my letter so let see what happens.

It is out of order you can’t say thing like that and then say, ‘oh, sorry there’s been a bit of confusion!’

    Thanks.

Re: Smile Bank Loan Settlement Figure

    Hi,

The problem here is that you have nothing in writing from Smile - it wil all be heresay. This is hugely frustrating for you I realise.

The issue yu have is that if you just pay the £3328.33 and ignore the last payment, in the eyes of Smile, you wil have defaulted. They will then pursue this amount through the courts and could issue a CCJ..... which would be disasterous for your credit rating.

I know it looks like you are backing down, but I would reccommend that you pay them in full. Then I would just never deal with them again.

Don't forget, if a company makes you happy, you will tell 5 people...... if a company does you an injustice....... you will tell 50.

    Smile Bank Loan Settlement Figure

I wondered if anyone on the forum might give me some advice on a recent series of communications with Smile bank regarding a loan I wished to settle. In the first instance I sent Smile a secure message enquiring into a settlement figure so I could pay off my loan, and enquired into a further advance of £5000, to purchase a new car. No sooner had I sent the message I had received a phone call from a colleague informing me that if I paid £3328.33 this would settle my outstanding loan. I decided not to go with Smile again for another loan as I could get a far more competitive loan from Northern Rock, so again I sent a secure message asking them to confirm what the final payment would be to settle the loan and I was told the same figure as above.

However, I’ve now been sent another secure message saying that there had been some confusion over the settlement figure I’d been quoted and in fact there was still another month’s payment to be paid on top of this quoted figure! This I’ve found totally prosperous and replied to the secure message saying I’d been quoted by two other colleagues £3328.33 as a final settlement payment! This however fell on deaf ears, I’ve now written a letter to Smile complaints department complaining bitterly about this mistake.

My question therefore to the forum is should smile now honour the first quoted settlement figure or can they just say ‘tough’ we made a mistake and therefore just pay what we say? Your feedback would be much appreciated.

    Cheers.
