    Simply3g cashback

Hi, any idea about mobile phone retailer Simply Communications? My cashback claim date was in Dec 2007. I have received a mail from them stating that they could not process the claim due to some trouble in their company and would pay the money "soon". I have not received any positive mail from them - no commitment on when the money will be paid or at all be paid or not.

Have any of you guys dealt with these rookies? Can you suggest any option on how to get this company to pay my money?

    Cheers,

    Prad

Keep chasing it. Honesty, seemingly all cashback deals do this sooner or later. They'll be bankrupt in 6 months maximum and you'll just be stuck with the contract and no cashback.

    Re: Simply3g cashback

In my opinion this company has gone bust. They owe me about £250 and so far I have been unable to contact them. They are however still flogging their phones on the website.

I have tried to phone but their phones are not working and the emails just bounce back however, I did manage to email the sales department. I've now given them 24hours to respond or I am going to go to the small claims court.

Strange how their sales department is open but nothing else !!!

I did phone '3' my phone provider and they reasured me that they are still trading. I supose they are as they are still selling but not honouring the cashback contracts that we took out.

I'm having exactly the same problems but had figured I'd just cancel my direct debit and take my chances.

Any idea what else could be done?

    Re: Simply3g cashback

Not sure that I would cancel the direct debit as this will be paid to your network provider. In my case '3' I have contacted '3' who were very helpful and are refering it to their team who are going to investigate. It will take up to 4 weeks but she was pretty sure that '3' would be able to recover the money. Maybe you could contact your network first as simply 3g are still selling contracts online.

    Good luck

    Thanks for that Florry,

I'm not actually due to send in my first six months statements until mid February, but started flapping when so many forums have threads about Simply3G not paying up. Phoned 3G as you suggested and they did refer it to investigation team but said 8 weeks. In terms of their responsibilities in this they said 3G would have done a financial assessment of Simply3G initially but no gaurentee (no spell checker on here!) of what happens after this. They did give me another number to try but this was same old message.

Amazed that 3G are still allowing Simply3G to process orders when they know what problems people are having!

    Re: Simply3g cashback

I just got an email from Simply3G today about their appointment of an interim liquidator, which means it's more likely than not that we won't get our money back, or at least, not soon.

My family and I have been purchasing mobile contracts with "3" via Simply3G for almost 2 years. Simply3G have stopped paying up for the last 4 months or so for various claims of ours. I sent in my latest claim (6 months worth of line rental) just after Christmas by Special Delivery and heard nothing back. Knowing that the company was at the brink of going bust before Christmas, I tried my luck and emailed them 10 days ago to see what's going on. See what I've got back today:

Simply Communications UK Ltd t/a Simply3G
    Lauries House
    Hareness Road
    Altens
    Aberdeen
    AB12 3LE

The board of directors have met and the decision has been taken to appoint
Michael J M Reid, CA, Meston Reid & Co, Chartered Accountants Aberdeen, as
interim liquidator. In this regard a petition is to be presented to the
sheriff at Aberdeen, seeking the winding-up of the company and the
appointment of interim liquidator. Once appointed, the interim liquidator
will write to all creditors/customers providing further details, in the
meantime, if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact either
Michael Reid or Graham Smith on 01224 625554 or by email to
    smithg AT mestonreid.com

This is what's shown on their original website (www.simply3g.co.uk) too.

Having watched BBC Watchdog on how mobile network providers operate these cashback deals via their agents (Simply3G being one of those agents), I am really doubtful if "3" will genuinely investigate into the situation and pay us back. "3" is probably more than happy to see us stuck in the contract, unable to get our cashback money. That's how their business model's based on. You think I'm joking? Take a look at this for yourself:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/consumer/tv_and_radio/watchdog/reports/consumer_goods/consumer_20071017.shtml

Why did I still go for Simply3G? Because I was stupid. When I realised I was committing to this risk (of not getting any promised cashback money back), it was too late.

Good luck everyone. I hope everybody who's with Simply3G will somehow got the money they deserve back.

    Re: Simply3g cashback

I am also owed money by SIMPLY 3G. I wondered if anyone knows if a bunch of us can take the 3 NEWORK to court because they took the money from the dealers. To me 3 NETWORK is a bit like the FAGIN of this cashback scam if they continue to receive money from SIMPLY 3G [OLIVER &THE ARTFUL DOGER]. They should at least offer credit to all those who have been swindled.

    Re: Simply3g cashback

I think this is a good idea but eperhaps the first thing to do is to contact the trading standards authority (or whatever the last word is). I tspoke to 3 this morning and they first of all mentioned that some simply3g customers were contacting the trading standards authority. This seems like a veileed suggestion to me. Also, I phoned them on 3 March (3) and they said that they would get back to me within foiur weeks letting me know if my request for a cash back would be made. I will upload onto here when I hear from them. In the meantime, I suggest we get a group of us together. I will contact the trading standards authority and report back.
