    Should I worry...

hi, don't know if anyone else has experienced this recently, but I'm a bit concerned about this...

I ordered 2 leather sofas from the leading high street catalogue shop in May, at a total cost of £1200 and was told that delivery would be 6 weeks, the money left my account immediately, anyhow, at the end of May the sofas were reduced in the May bank holiday deals...I cancelled the order, got a refund and reordered at the reduced price, saving me £265, and was given the date of June 15th to be contacted to arrange delivery, on Saturday I was contacted via an automated message service to inform me that I would not now be contacted again until July 14th to arrange a delivery date, a further 4 weeks time, I wasn't particularly concerened about this as I realise there are often delays in getting goods to the warehouse etc, however, when I told my sister about this, she told me that a friend of hers had ordered 5 beds from this same company which were due to be delivered on Friday, and they didn't turn up, he was contacted on the day of delivery to be told they were going to be another 5 weeks, this has made me worry that perhaps they are having financial problems and I may not receive my order

Do you think i should cancel the order and get another refund i cannot afford to write off all this money.

    Hi

In short, YES, you should worry. I personally would cancel and ask for all of the money back. If the company is having trouble completing the order it could take a while for you to get your money back or receive the furniture.. By delaying delivery they may have breached the contract between you and therefore you could have the right to cancel.

There could be a reasonable explanation for delay e.g. transit of the goods from Italy/China wherever, but I would phone the companies head office to get an explantion and ask for this to be put in writing. A leading catalogue shop was having problems with leather Sofa's, 'toxic fumes'. Are they having problems with their new suppliers? I would have thought in the current economic times, there would be plenty of stock available.

    Re: Should I worry...

thanks, you've confirmed what i feared, i've just been on the phone to argos and asked if there was a general problem with deliveries, not letting on that i knew about the beds and she said no we've just had problems getting supplies of that particular sofa, and is there another one i'd like from the catalogue, i said i particularly wanted that one,but didn't really want to wait another month, so she actually suggested that i cancel the order, so i'll get a refund on my card in the next five days, bit gutted tho as i really loved the sofas, they're the chocolate ferarra ones if you want a nosy lol...

awww they'd look so nice in my living room, waaaa (but at least i'll (hopefully) get my money back :)

I was also considering buying sofas from Argos with the sale on and was looking at the Avelino Chocolate I wonder if they'll have the same problem.

Thanks for posting, might just have saved me some trouble!
