Re: Should I get better deal?

    Hi jeffn

The short answer is if you want to get Sky Broadband then yes you would need to switch back to the BT network, this can take time and be a fair bit of hassle but with the savings you make it might be worth it.

My advice is go back to NTL and threaten them that you're going to switch to Sky, by the sounds of it you could get your bill reduced by £40-50 a month if you say you're want to move to Sky - if they don't offer you a better deal then switch anyway.

Like i said it's a consumer's market at the moment and you're the only winner at the moment, don't let ISP's take advantage of you because you can get a far better deal than what you're on at the moment.

    Cheers

Re: Should I get better deal?

Hello Jason, I am a bit confused with the deals available. I am with NTL and pay £35 for broadband and line rental, plus another £9-10 in calls monthly. Total inc telly is close on £100 per month!
As I am on cable will I have to revert to a BT line if I want to change? How does it work - i haven't had a BT line for 10 years. Sorry to ask such a basic question but I can't beleive I can save so much!

    Hi Tony

You should certainly be able to get a better deal with Telewest and also with other suppliers.

Having advised other users of the forum to adopt the same tactics this has had success.

Your first port of call is to go back to Telewest and advise them that Sky have offered the following deal:

    Sky Broadband Max 16Mb £10 a mth
Sky Talk free UK landine calls anytime £5 a mth
Sky TV - (4 entertainment packs, 1 sport pack, 1 movie pack) £38 a mth (currently half price for first 6 months)
BT line rental £11 a mth
Total: £54.50 a mth for first year reverting to £61.00 a mth thereafter.

In other words you'll get everything you have now and a faster broadband connection for less.

Go bakc to Telewest and say that you're considering switching to this Sky offer, they will put you through to their cancellation/retention team - they will offer you a better deal to stop you from switching.

So basically when they've offered you a better deal consider whether it's worth staying with Telewest or switching to Sky and saving money on your existing deal.

    Good luck

    Jason

    Should I get better deal?

    Hi

    I Have

Cable tv (Supreme package Telewest) = £17.50/month
    Broadband (Telewest )=£25/month
    Talk unlimited UK (Telewest)=£14.50/month
    BT line rental (with Telewest)=£11/month
    Caller ID (Telewest)=£1.75/month

    Total package = £69.75 / month

I have been a telewest customer for at least 5-6 years.

How do I get same services but at better price?

Do I need to changr supplier?

    Cheers
