It will add little to the value of a 99 year lease. It may help organising communal repairs, expenses and so on if leaseholders rather than an uninterested builder owns the lease.

Should I buy freehold on my 99 year leasehold property?

    Hi all

I wanted to get some advice regarding the possible purchase of the freehold for my leasehold property in South East London. There are four flats in the building and currently 99 years to run on the lease. Bearing in mind that I have only lived in the property for one year but the freeholder has made an offer to sell to us I'm not sure if it is worth going through the process which sounds complex and costly and if it will add value to the price of the property? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thank you.
