    How about some six month, fixed interest bonds and 30 day notice accounts? The purple "money" tab will help compare rates but it's best to stick with banks and building societies that you know and trust and it's best to spread your money around a bit (perhaps using the £80k depositor protection limit as a guide).

    In the next 2 months, my wife and I will realise about £300,000 from the sale of our home. We then plan to live in rented accommodation for up to 6 months while we find a smaller house of our choice (because we are downsizing).

    Please can you suggest where should we invest our sale proceeds so that we can buy a £200,000 house, giving about 1 month notice, and maximising the interest we can accrue?
