Re: Shared House - Additional Contents Cover

    Hi

Cheapest option may be for your brother to approach his Insurers if you will be there for up to 9 months. You will need to be added to policy and have to pay your brother the additional amount it will cost. You would need to supply him with all the details, replacement values of overall contents, bikes and ring. The ring may need to be specified.

Aviva and Ensleigh offer Contents Insurance for shared properties, but I believe these can be expensive and have maximum limits which you may find insufficient. Give them a call for info and a quote.

Shared House - Additional Contents Cover

    Hi

My girlfriend and I are moving in with my brother at the end of this month (he owns his own property) in order to save for a new property. We expect we'll be there for between 6 - 9 months.

My brother currently has Home insurance on his property, but there are a number of items we'll be storing at his property we're keen on having additional insurance on. We don't want to put him out by asking him to cover these on his own policy, and would prefer to take out our own while we're living with him.

Would this be possible? And how would be best to go about doing this?

Items we'd like to cover our posessions along with special items such as my bicycles (they're quite expensive), our mobile phones, and my girlfriends new engagement ring...

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks.
