Hi, My Setanta story is similar to the rest - I have the cancellation address at home but cannot post-it untill next week as I am away until Monday. It is a Sunderland address which Setanta do not publish on their Terms & Conditions.

My advice - write your cancellation letter with loads of notice and send it recorded.

Having 'escaped' from their contract I still feel ripped-off, my opinion is that they owe me money but I will never see it. Personally I would never use Setanta again, ever - even if it were free !

    PREEZ:

hi does any one no the cancel address for setanta sports

    Hi

I doubt very much if you will get any free months with setanta sports, they are a rip off. I am suprised that other people have not posted comments on this forum as I have seen compaints on other forums about setanta. We were with setanta sports, after three months we cancelled and they offered us it for another three months for five pounds a month. The first month they took 9.99 and 5.00 pounds, we were promised a refund of the overcharged amount on three occasions both over the phone and after writing to them, the refund never came. They then took other amounts from our credit card, after we had cancelled the contract with them in writing. In order to stop them from taking any more money from our credit card, we had to cancel the credit card, this was the only way we could get away from them. They seem to do this to people all the time, so beware!!

Re: Setanta Sports 1 on Freeview

    Hi i also had setanta

bought freeview box from tesco 1 month free it was £9.99 a month, phone got it set up was read a big statment over the phone and said yes i agreed.

straight a way they charged me £9.99 the 24th jan and then again on the 1st feb so i phoned to ask why and they said they charge in advance so i said can i have the free month and they said you will get it at the end !!!

I said what if i never cancel?

so i said i will cancel.

so i phoned the bank and told them to cancel the direct debit and under no reason to pay setanta any money and for them to confirm this in writting to both me and setanta

So they got the letter from the bank and the next month they still tried to get a direct debit very cheeky of them!

the week after they send me a letter saying i have defaulted in my aggrement and i owed them money and to contact them about this so i phoned them and i said no i had canceled and they had defaulted ......

    Clause in contract !

they said i would need to do this in writting and i said i had phoned and would refer to that and will be sending a follow up letter ref the phone call.

they said i would still owe £9.99 for the month i hadnt paid and £9.99 for the next month as i had to give 30 days notice!

    I said no!

you have breached the contract as laid out in the agrrement black and white so as in the agrement you have failed to give me my first month free and charged me for this so you should return this payment and give me a month for free.

switched on to watch the football and all was blackkkkked out...

Got a further letter demanding money and wanting to take me to court as i had defaulted !!!

I phoned with a copy of the letter i had sent, acopy of the letter the bank had sent and all the letters they had sent and told them i will be recording this phone call suprise suprise they backed off when i told them this amounted to harrasment and i would be contacting a lawyer and seeking to make a complaint to this effect.

I recommend you have to be on your toes with this company andread the covering letter about the agrement.

they will keep charging you even when you cancel and as it is so little money that you will not try to get it back.

If you cancel ensure you phone the bank and write that dam letter to setanta.

the 3 months for free is so they have 3 months payments before you realise and also this means that when you go to cancel it take 3 months and 3 more payments cheers mate!

so get it worked out and realise that they are going to charge you for 3month after you cancel and you can only cancel when you decide and you are not able to make up you mind to cancel 3 months in advance.......

    Best of luck.

setanta still owes me 2 payments of £9.99

    Setanta Sports 1 on Freeview

I've recently subscribed to Setanta Sports 1 on Freeview @ £10.99/month but with the 1st 3 months free.

This offer is still posted on their website but having activated the viewing card on 10 Sept they now state my 1st payment is due on 10 Nov which only gives me 2 months free.

I phoned their subscription helpline to query this and was told is is their policy to charge monthly in advance. Fair enough but my 1st payment should be due on 10 Dec not 10 Nov.

I've emailed them without reply so far and would be grateful if anyone can explain when the 3rd free month will be credited?

I guess they'll do it at the end of any subscription as I have to give 60 days notice to terminate after the next due date but how can I be sure I'll be credited with the free month then?

I'm not complaining about the package which so far is good but I'd have thought the 3 months free would have been allowed upfront.
