    Re: SECURITY SECURITY SECURITY

    Dear Fedora,
YES I AM SURE ABOUT WHAT I AM SAYING.
Yes there is a serious problem which has been identified by Mcafee. Mcafee are a reputable company and would not post such a
statement without having checked very carefully.

I am merely reporting the findings that Mcafee have made, together with the results of my own email security tests.
Having a proper security package is fine, but the point is talktalk.net have not it would appear from Mcafees findings an adequate form of security on their site, as have all other internet service providers. If you install the Mcafee Site Advisor programme you will see that all other ISP have a clean bill of health, talktalk.net does not.
As for CW?TT not knowing about this, this is the whole point here to make them aware and do something but if people simply sit on their behinds and moan then nothing will happen. People have to act.

Firstly you need to establish the facts for yourself as explained in my posting by installing the Mcafee Site Advisor Programme.
Simply follow the steps outlined, the rest will follow as you learn how to use it.
Take this step first. See for yourself what is wrong.
As for the action that yopu can take it is complain, complain, complain, complain, complain, complain!!
BUT NOT TO TALKTALK.NET BROADBAND CUSTOMER SERVICES YOU WILL BE WASTING YOUR TIME AND THEY WILL SIMPLY TELL YOU THAT YOUR OWN SECURITY IS AT FAULT, OR SPEND HALF AN HOUR ON THE TELEPHONE AT THE COST OF TEN PENCE PER MINUTE TO YOU TALKING TO SOMEONE IN INDIA WHO MUST RESPOND FROM A SCRIPT!!!

Your complaint must go to Charles Dunstone himself at the head office of CARPHONE WAREHOUSE in the CEOs office.
His email address is shown in the Carphone Warehouse internet site

    Re: SECURITY SECURITY SECURITY

    Dear peradua

Please don't take offence but are you sure that what you are saying is correct IF one has a proper security package like McAfee, Norton or Zone Alert? I have seen the CW/TT 'porn' thing mentioned somewhere not so long ago and it sounded more like ads in convenient spaces. Maybe CW/TT don't know about this, can't stop it or are happy about it. IF ON THE OTHER HAND you are saying there is a serious problem what exactly should I do? Unfortunately although I have reasonable knowledge for a layman taking your note in its entirety it went over my head. Thanks in advance.

    SECURITY SECURITY SECURITY

Mcafee have proven that talktalk.net has a security problem and is unsafe! They have found that it has links to porn sites and hi-jacked the browser of their test computer!
Prove this for yourself. Click on the tools menu in Internet Explorer, then on manage add ons, then on find more add ons.
You will go to a site with a list of add ons/programmes. Click on the privacy one. Now search through this to find Mcafee Site Advisor,
download and install. This wiil also work with Firefox if you use it.
You now have an addition to Explorer and will see a Mcafee Site Advisor flag at the top left hand of your browser.
Mcaffe have tested site all over the internet and rated them as safe..green, unsafe..red, procede with caution..yellow, and untested
    grey.
Now make an internet search, preferably using Google, your results page will then come up with red, green or one of the other colours in a flag alongside the site. Now find talktalk.net, it is red. Hover the pointer of your mouse over the flag and you will get a pop up telling you why Mcafee found the site unsafe. In this pop up box is the ability to go directly to the Mcafee page showing their full findings and the feedback users have made about talktalk.net.
Fine now you have verified that the site is unsafe.
However, you can carry out a further check.
Talktalk.net also carries your email....so go to http://www.gfi.com/emailsecuritytest/ and read what it says.
Now enter your email address and ask for the test emails.
NOW STAND BACK AND WATCH YOUR COMPUTER GO CRAZY!!!! Your antivirus and antispyware will work overtime to deal with the flood of malicious test emails that have come through from talktalk.net email servers.
Why.. because talktalk.net has little or no security systems in place it would appear and pass all this traffic through to you hoping that your security will deal with it.
So if this is the case then it seems that talktalk.net can be used by a hacker or some other malicious individual to spread infection, or malicious material around the internet!!! NICE ONE TALKTALK!!!

So what can you do, complain, complain, complain, complain, complain but not to talktalkbroadband customer services they are
    hidebound and do not understand.
You must write to Charles Dunstone at the CEOs office, avilaable from the Carphone Warehouse site and have a go at him.
Do not take no for an answer pester, pester, pester.

The test emails that you get are totally harmless so do not worry.

YOU MUST HOWEVER DO A FULLANTIVIRUS SCAN AFTERWARDS AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE TOTALLY REMOVED FROM YOUR SYSTEM
