When you are comparing the SP and SS bills you need to make sure you are comparing the KWH figure.

To confirm for yourself that you are being billed as metric you need to follow the calculation on bill to convert the units of gas you have used into KWH

the calculation will be something like this 'units used times by the calorific value times by volume correction and divide by 3.6'

ScottishPower - Gas - How Much!?

Hi, I've been reading through some of the posts & could really do with some help please. Swapped to SP in Sept last year from Scottish & Southern...Scottish & Southern had been correctly billing as a metric meter, SP initially started billing as Imperial. I went through a load of hassle but got this sorted & thought problem solved. Got the email fromSP asking me to read the meter for gas n 'electric & submitted the findings. It "indicates" I've used 918(!) units (10535Kwh!!) from 8 Jan 09 to 25 Feb 09 (49 days). With the same meter, after reading through the old bill supplied by Scottish & Southern for the same (ish) period the previous year, it states usage as "Sep 07 to Mar 08 @ 1401 units". About right i'd say. We have a 4 bed detatched, heating & water heater on 3 hrs AM, 4 hrs PM. Did switch the heating up a bit in Feb due to the snow & cold weather but this figure just seems mad to me. I had it confirmed to me by SP that I am now being billed as metric by SP & have been taking readings since the initial shock & am averaging about 6 to 7 units a day. Any assistance or confirmation that I'm not being "done" somehow will be very gratefully received.

Also just paid about £300.00 to clear the debt to stop them moving my DD up to £155.00 per month.

    Thanks in advance...Flyer...
