Im just going to bullet point, however make sure that the start reads match whats on the exchange tag. If they have done an exchange it may of been because the meter was too old.

standard victorian end of terrace, three bed house = Very large house to heat x6-8 radiators, no heating from another neighbour with it been an end one.

heating on for 5 hours a day, really you dont need it on for this length, try it for 2-3 hours spread throughout the day. Make sure also that the thermistat is set to say 15.

It would be worth you speaking to energy efficency.

It's also worth checking that they are charging on the correct basis. Check this Watchdog report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/2009/01/are_you_paying_too_much_for_ga.html

Yes, it does seem a lot.

You need to check that the meter readings on the bill and the tariff are sensible. Usually new meters start from zero but you should check yourself. If you are disputing the bills, you need to be clear in your mind whether it is the number of units or the cost per unit or the calculation that you are unhappy with.

Scary gas bill - help needed

    Hi

Having spent several years (yes years) battling with British Gas over my bills they have finally fitted a new meter in my property to try and resolve the problem. They came and did a reading after one month and i have now received a bill for £250!!!

That seems a lot of money for one months gas to me, even in winter, but can anyone help/confirm it's too much as I have nothing to compare to.

It is a standard victorian end of terrace, three bed house. I have a two year old, regularly serviced combi boiler, and have the heating on for about five hours a day, the shower is used once a day and I have a gas hob - which is used about three times a week.

British Gas are being their usual useless selves, so any help greatly appreciated!

    Thanks
