Re: Savings account for a UK non-resident

The C&G is part of LloydsTSB who do have some very good savings products. Why not search our database through the savings account finder and then after identifying the account of choice, send a nice letter to C&G asking them to move the money to thier LTSB higher rate equivalent.

Banks are usually quite good and acting on instructions if you send them a letter and explain the situation in full.

Savings account for a UK non-resident

My sister has been living in the USA for the past 8 years and has had some of her savings sitting in a Cheltenham & Gloucester savings account paying a very low rate of interest. She wants to switch to a high interest account but banks always require a UK address, and for account holders to be UK taxpayers. She can't even switch to a higher interest C&G account as they require confirmation of UK residency on the application form. She wants to keep this money in sterling. What can she do?
