    Re: Saving Money from abroad

I understand that there are very stringnet rules on transferring money out of China. Therefore I cannot help.

Eleswhere, one effective way of moving money around the world is to take out a pre paid debit card. These are provided like pre-pay mobile phone cards and you pay into them in your country of origin and use them in cash machines anywhere in the world thereafter. You could send one to a relative with no money loaded onto it, then once safely received, pay into the card and it can drawn anywhere else. However, this may be something that you wish to check out whether it is illegal for persons in China to do.

    Saving Money from abroad

I work In China and get paid into a chinese bank. I am now wanting to save money in the UK and am wondering what the most cost effective way of transfering this money. Having Contacted several of the uk's leading banks I have been told this could cost me anything up to 21% of the amount to be transfered.

Since i hope to save on a regular basis these charges seem excessive. Is their a better and cheaper method.

Also can you recomend the best type of savings. this is savings for my retirement and having already paid chinese tax on this money i would like to avoid more.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
