Re: Santander credit card agreement - is this standard?

    access:

I've just received Santander changes to credit card agreement and wondered if this clause is standard everywhere.

"We may make the following charges for administering your account... Up to ten pounds each time you have a credit balance on your Account for 3 consecutive months"

    Thanks

Is this so that they can calculate how much interest to pay you?

Perhaps they have a regulatory requirement to send you a letter to warn you about this and they can make a reasonable charge for sending a letter ie. £10. As they probably don't pay interest for credit balances, there is probably a new consumer protection rule, that they have to write to customers after 3 months.

The next complaint will be. " I was in credit by 10p and they charged me £10 to write to me about it. "
