Check it out, but I do not think that you will be covered by forces that were beyond the airlines control (force majeure).

Ryanair flight cancelled due to snow!!!

I was due to fly from Edinburgh on Sunday night at 8.30pm with Ryanair, however after sitting on the plane for two hours, the flight was eventually cancelled due to snow. There were hundreds queuing for the Ryanair desk to rearrange their flight so I decided to check into a hotel as it was close to midnight by this point and phone Ryanair in the morning as the next flighs were 6.55 and 20.30 the next day.

When I phoned Ryanair, the next day they told me the next available flight was 6.55 on Tuesday which I agreed to travel on as my flight was transfered, therefore I would have to stay in Edinburgh for another night. I phoned my travel insurance company, Direct Line and they told me that Ryanair would have to foot the main part of the bill and their insurance policy of £20 for first 12 hours, and then £10 for every full 12 hours after that would only cover me for £30!!!

I will phone Ryanair tomorrow but was wondering if there is any advice on where I stand and who is liable? Is anyone liable or do their terms and conditions not cover such events?

The hotels for two nights following the cancellation cost me £200 as well as taxis and bus from the airport which amounts to £50 therefore I really need to recoup some or all of this amount.

    Many Thanks.
