    Re: rip off by themobs.com

See my email of 23rd Jan and earlier ones - write to 3 network's Customer Services. If you don't get a reasonable reply you can then complain officially to the regulator. It's all a pain tho'!

You can also transfer to a lower Tariff but they charge you a month fee to do it.

    Re: rip off by themobs.com

I just found out today that themobs.com have gone out of business. I got my sixth monthly bill today and rang them to confirm what I should send them for my cashback. A curt message said they were no longer in business and to contact my network provider.
I rang 3 immediately and spoke to a nice lady in India.
Not 3's responsibility, and would cost £25, or a six month extension to contract, to change tariff.
I asked her when they(3) knew themobs.com had folded, and after looking it up, she said Nov/Dec. So whoever emailed Netherfield was lying.
I tried to reason with her that it was unreasonable for 3 to charge £25 for a change of tariff, when we were sold the original tariff by crooks, with a link on 3's website, in the first place. She went off to ask her manager, but came back and said it had to stand.
This is terrible business practice.Respectable companys care about customer relations and would waive this fee as a goodwill gesture.
I dont think we can do much about a fly-by-night company like themobs.com now they've flown, but we can strive to let people know what a shoddy, greedy company 3 is(and the rest of them, by all accounts!).
Has the BBC done it's feature yet, does anyone know?

    Sorry, Netherfield.
Just read your missive of 23rd Jan, and must say it's excellent.
I shall be following your example, and urge everyone else affected to do the same.

    Re: rip off by themobs.com

I'm another mug. Have been trying unsuccessfully since December 05 to recover cashback - even with special delivery receipt from Royal Mail. Complete scam. How could this company go out of business when it never seems to pay anyone back any money. Is there anyone out there who successfully recovered any money? Also how much money are these agents given by 3 per contract? I mean if they were to provide the promised cashbacks would they still make a profit or was it their intention all along to simply refuse all claims and then liquidate? Surely this is a pre mitigated fraud?

Anyone got any update on their complaints to 3?

    Re: rip off by themobs.com

If I bought a washing machine from comet, and it was an hotpoint. And comet went bust I would still be covered by hotpoint for the
repair if it stopped working. So whats the difference. We were ripped off by three over 4 years ago, when a similar deal went pair shaped. We were supposed to get a camcorder for each new contract, my wife & I took a contract each, and weeks before we got our comcorders we were told the agent had gone bust. & promised us that all sellers/agents would in future be accredited. Why do we not start an on-line petition to send to the regulator, I do not know how to do one.

    Re: rip off by themobs.com

thats an idea. since i got conned by the mobs i have had numerous phone calls to 3 and they are refusing to accept any liability. However i dont even think the people i spoke to actually understood what i was talking about and if they did the phone line kept going dead. I have in the meantime upgraded my phone and lowered my monthly tariff from 35 to 25 a month and i have been told my account was 96 pounds in credit so i have gained a little back. not quite the 360 quid i was gonna get. However i feel as i was due an upgrade with 3 i dont think they have given me anything i wouln't have got even if i had got my money of the mobs. My main complaint with 3 is the fact that we went through the mobs because it was a link of their site. Had we just picked the site at random i wouldn't of done it. If a petition is started i will definately sign as 3 are a big enough company to just hold their hands up and say hey we made a mistake with using the mobs as agents.

    Re: rip off by themobs.com

Hi people. I have got the same problem. 2 month ago i sent off a claims vouchers to THEMOBS.COM. i heard nothing back. I rang 3network and they say they have nothing to do with it as they are jus the providers not suppliers.i rang fair trade up and they say they also have nothing to do with it..so my sister is looking into it and she is planning to sue. But a lot of hard work needs to be done in order to be successful, we can sue these companies and get 20 times the money than we were originally supposed to get, my sis is currently creating a PETITION asking people to sign whoevers expirienced the same problem as me. my email is kopite9 AT gmail.com if u wish to ask me anything.

    Re: rip off by themobs.com

I have created a petition to number 10. I'm not sure if it's very well written or if it's saying everything you want to say! Let me know if you think any of the wording needs altering.
This is the first time i've done anything like this, so hope it's ok!
It should go live in the next few days (needs checking by number 10) and once it does the link to sign on will be:

    http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/3MOB2COMPENSATE

Let's hope we get somewhere, get everyone to sign!!!!

Your petition reads: We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to force the 3mobile company to give compensation to their customers who have been conned by themobs.com A company known as themobs.com promised hundreds of customers money through a cashback scheme if they bought a mobile phone handset from them. The phone had to be connect to the 3mobile network. themobs.com was promoted by a link from 3mobile's own website, inferring that 3mobile were promoting themobs.com as a genuine supplier. Now hundreds of customers have been left high and dry as themobs.com have gone out of business. Whether this was intentional or not, 3mobile are not interested and anyone who has complained to them has been rejected. It is therefore suggested that as the initial link came from the 3mobile website, they should be made liable for the cashback due to their customers. Thank you for submitting your petition.

    Re: rip off by themobs.com

Brilliant petition. I for one will have my name added to this. We should let 3 mobile know we are doing this, and let watchdog know too.

    Re: rip off by themobs.com

can I suggest you also mention the other networks that themobs sold contracts for. I purchased an Orange contract through them and I am sure their are people out there who purchased with other networks. I would be happy to sign the petition as long as it was not aimed at just one of the networks when we can solve a roblem for all involved.

    Re: rip off by themobs.com

Will do my best to modify it, sorry. I didn't realise other networks were involved.....
If I don't manage to change it, you could always write your own petition, it's dead easy!
Then........ I'll sign yours if you'll sign mine!

I don't think I am able to modify it now, as it has already been submitted.
I'm so sorry, I didn't realise other network companies were involved.
You can always start your own http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/.
