    Rewired electrics with no certificate

About a year ago a family friend fitted me a new consumer unit (fuse box) however as he fitted it in his own time we received no certificate etc; we are now selling the house and I have heard this may cause me a head-ache! What is the best solution to this??I have heard that indemnity insurance cover is an option when/if a sale goes through. Any ideas?

    Cheers :-)

Re: Rewired electrics with no certificate

Assuming that they didn't buy the house 50 years ago, some people get away with many DIY jobs by simply saying that the job was done before they moved in. For significant DIY jobs done after you moved in (like new windows, major rewiring, etc.), you are required to obtain a certificate to say that the work was done to the appropriate standard. Councils do some inspections but you might need to get an electrician to inspect and certify the work.
