    Re: re-tests?

It's definitely worth retaking the test. I haven't driven in something like 4 years now and I just know it'd be like starting from scratch all over again for me now. I'm only a student driver, but if this is how it affects me, and I took naturally to driving until my instructor turned into the jekyll and hyde monster, think what its going to do to someone who passed their test years ago, hasn't driven in years and now drives again!

    Re: re-tests?

I think its a good idea, the standard of driving on British roads isn't exactly the best. I've driven in Europe and the UK has some of the worst drivers. Its not the fact we can't drive, I personally think it's down to the driving test. Too much emphasis is put on etiquette and not enough on safety and discipline. The Government is 'apparenty' looking into introducing higher speed limits on Motorways to bring us in line with Europe. Limitless Autobahns work in Germany because their drivers have the discipline to keep in the lane that matches their speed. Can you imagine driving in the centre lane at 90mph and coming across someone doing 50mph - it would be chaos. I think anything to cut down on road deaths and increase the standard of driving is a good idea - might be a bit of a pain having to re-take your test, but worth if it you'll be a better driver or if it will prevent an accident.

Just heard that people who haven't driven for a long time will have to take a re-test to prove their still road-worthy.. What do people reckon? Justified or just a waste of time?
