Presumably they will also sting you for cancellation charges on your existing line - currently ~ £7.50 per month of remaining contract (~ 7 months left as a new line comes with a 12 mnth contract) ??

BT want £125 for a reconnection.

Is there anything I can do or any way to get it cheaper?

Am I right in saying that I can find an other company that can do it at a lower price?

Firstly, if there is a BT socket in working order, then BT may not charge the £125. They wont tell you whether or not you need to pay until after you have placed the order and they have tested the line though.

I understand that BT are currently running a promotion whereby you sign up for a 18 month (normally 12 month) contract, agree to make 10+ calls each month and get the line connected for £29 or free (depending who you believe). For details, you need to phone BT on 0800 800 150 and ask for the "new line free connection offer". I understand that the offer expires in September. Please post if you get anywhere with this.

Othere alternatives include Direct Save Telecom, Primus Saver, TalkTalk and Sky.

    Reconnecting Phoneline

    Hi,

I have been with BT for 5 Months now, All bills have always been paid on time and no problems. I payed the connection fee when moving into my current home.

As of next week we are suppose to be moving but I know our new home does not have a current working phone line.

BT want £125 for a reconnection.

Is there anything I can do or any way to get it cheaper?

Am I right in saying that I can find an other company that can do it at a lower price?

    Thanks,

    Jaymie.
