    Recall Direct Debit?

    Hi there

Please can someone tell me if it is possible to recall a Direct Debit once it has left the bank? I live in Spain and you can definitely do this with a Spanish bank account (up to 30 days after payment & no questions asked). A DD has recently gone out of my account. I bank online and believed I had cancelled it but realise now that I had not (yes, ultimately my fault I know). The payment is for an life assurance policy that I really do not want to continue with. The money was paid out a week ago. I have contacted the insurance company but they say a flat 'no' to refunding any or all of the money. My bank did not say that they could not do anything but then they didn't offer to do so either. Is it possible to get my money back now?

    Thanks for any help.

    Re: Recall Direct Debit?

    Pingo:

The Direct Debit could only be recalled if either the amount or date had changed and you had not received the appropriate notice.

However, note that even if the circumstances allow it to be recalled, the amount will still be due as the policy remains in force until you cancel in accordance with the policy terms and conditions.
