    Really Expensive Electric Bills

    Hi

I am currently living in a 1 bed rented flat.

We have 2 storage heaters and everything in the flat is electric. We are on Eco 7 electric.

But we are getting through about £130 a month in electric! We are on prepayment keys and are using about £30 a week.

We have one storage heater that has a input and output dial that are set to no output boost and half input as suggested. The other one has only 2 dials, 1 has a temp control and the other has a output dial 1 -7. This is only set half way.

We have got to the point where we only turn on the storage heathers at about 11pm each night and are turned off about 7am, by the main power switch on the wall.

During the day we are still using about a £1 in electric and the only thing that is on is the home phone, water, fridge freezer and alarm clock.

Can anyone tell me whats going on and why we are using sooo much electric?

We just cant work out why.

    Many Thanks

    Eve

Turn off every thing one morning and see if the meter moves to check if its faulty.

    eve123,

The meter might be set-up incorrectly in that day and night is the wrong way round i.e. you are being charged the more expensive day rates at night and the cheaper rates during the day.

However, if you are saying you are being over charged during the day then it might be that the meter is faulty or that, as you are living in a flat, you may be paying for more than just your own energy.

Do you have a computer on during the day that may account for the daily usage?
