Might be an idea to close these accounts as banks may see you as someone with a lot of available credit, although in my experience this tends to explain being offered low credit limits as opposed to being declined.

Why not call the other card companies and tell them you want to close, they might offer you a good deal on balance transfers and save you having to apply again.

If youve been declined its probably due to the other card accounts still being open. MBNA (Barclaycard still generous but to a lesser extent) are well known for offering some of the highest limits around so your credit file will be showing you have tons of credit available to you, even if youre not using it. Your best bet might be to try a new card from one of the MBNA partners such as A&L, Virgin etc as your (I assume) good relationship with them will be taken into account on the credit score. I had the same problem with other providers but got accepted on the fourth attempt by Virgin with a 5k limit! If that fails its best to give up for at least 3 to 6 months because youll ruin your credit rating if you havent already! If all else fails Barclaycard normally do 0% for 6 months if you phone up and ask nicely, or 6.9% for life. MBNA tailor it according to how much they like you but will normally give you a lowish transfer rate (but not 0%) for a while maybe 6-10 months. Failing that if you also bank with RBS speak to your local branch about a loan if you got a big balance 7.5k upwards cos it'll be cheaper and less hassle in the long run. In most cases the adviser at RBS can tell how likely it is to be accepted for a d/con loan just by looking at your account and without doing a check!
