    quote guarantee

I went for a quote online to Direct line Ins, the quote I got was £468.52, but when I went to retrieve the quote, because the start date of the insurance had changed so had the price by nearly £500. The price was now £923.26
I am really angry at the wording in this email, as it reads "You can now retrieve your saved quote
AMEND it and buy online whenever you are ready, as it WILL be valid for the next 90 days". In this statement you are actually telling me that I can amend the quote, and it will be valid for the next 90 days.
I amended the start date of the policy and it hasn't stayed the same, from 22/11/2011 to 01/12/2011 as you can see it is a difference of 8 days, not 90 days so obviously the above statement is not a valid statement and should be removed from any subsequent emails that are sent out.
I like things in plain English, which at first sight, this statement seems to be, but obviously I was wrong, because in Direct Line language that is plainly different to English it does not say that at all, its say get your policy done now and for the date or it will go up by £500, or if you phone us it will be £774, or maybe even £696, it just depends who you talk to and what time of day it is.
So beware if you are taking out an insurance policy with Direct line, their 90 day guarantee for quotes does not exist if your start date has to be changed, and they could bump it up by £500 which is double what the quote was, and I have been told that can happen next day, doesn't have to be a whole 8 days with an excuse that ratings can change in that time, what ratings one can only guess at, because these ratings had nothing to do with either the driver or the car!!
