... or a quote for an inspection. I would have hoped that it wouldn't cost much more than an MOT but of course some garages will see a special situation and come up with a "special" price.

    Re: Q plate insurance?

Thanks for that - had already signed up with Adrian Flux so I'll leave it for someone else to try that one.

One other company would have quoted - the Carinsurance specialists but they needed a report doing as well.

None could allow any NCD so best I got was £90 deposit and 9 x £58 fully comp

Anyone reading this forum thinking of buying a Q plate - get an insurance quote first!

Have you tried Sureterm Direct? They were one of few companies to quote me.

No luck with any of those. Even tried the previous owners insurance company - Privilege - and they still said no despite the fact they've insured it for years!

They would consider it if I get an engineers report

So only luck so far is Adrian Flux, although they are pretty expensive.

Many Q-reg cars are kit cars so you will end up with some leads by googling for "kit car insurance" or looking through kit car magazines.

    Q plate insurance?

Anyone know which companies might insure Q plate cars - most seem to have a clause excluding it?

Mine is on a Q because it was apparently originally purchased from a dealer that went into receivership and all paperwork was lost on it.
